A meeting with the President of the International Dance Council of the UNESCO
Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan had a meeting with the President of the International Dance Council of the UNESCO Alkis Raftis. Congratulating him on the professional day-the international dance day, Taron Margaryan thanked Alkis Raftis for marking his professional holiday in Yerevan and expressed hope that his good impressions of the international performances of Armenian dance groups will be more completed with his visit to Yerevan.
"Yerevan has various state and private dance groups and participating in international competitions and festivals they come back to Armenia with honorary prizes. Taking into account the rich cultural traditions of our 2784-year-old capital the Municipality of Yerevan in its turn has always supported and promoted the activation and development of cultural life of Yerevan", said Taron Margaryan stressing that the Municipality of Yerevan cooperates with different dance groups permanently involving them in citywide events.
The President of the International Dance Council of the UNESCO Alkis Raftis expressing gratitude for warm reception in his turn said that the high organizational level of the events dedicated to the International Dance Day evidences that Yerevan is really a city with rich cultural traditions and always tries to present its culture on proper level."I have been in Yerevan for only two days and I really admire the warmth of the city and its residents. I am really pleased to be in your beautiful city and admit that a lot of work has been carried out to ensure proper organization of the International Dance Day in Yerevan. And all this testifies that the holiday will become a real celebration", said Alkis Raftis adding that within his powers he would do his best so that next year the annual International Dance Forum will be held in Yerevan.
By the way, on the event of the International Dance Day by the initiative of the Municipality, traditional Armenian Kochari dance will be taught at general schools of the capital.
